Hi

I am really hoping someone could help me. I have just moved into a property with underfloor heating, but have had no luck producing any heat from it. There is a good supply of hot water to the taps, however the underfloor heating is another story. The pipes around the heater all seem to be cold, so I'm thinking perhaps I need to bleed the pipes? Please see the attached photo - there is a black valve that hisses when turned, I just wanted confirmation that I am in fact bleeding the pipes by doing this rather than releasing some necessary pressure!

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob, welcome to the forum. The black knob you're turning is the pressure relief valve, and the hissing sound is water being let out of the system. This will, as you suspected, reduce pressure, and sadly not bleed air from your system.

Also, it's not 100% certain from your photo but that looks like the pipework around an unvented cylinder, and nothing to do with your underfloor heating.

the heating would have to be on for at least a day befor you noitced it working, I would sugest you get a heating eng in to check it out get it working and show you how it all runs
