Hi There,

My name is Sam and I am a software developer in Dorset. I have recently done some work for a plumber friend of mine on his website.

After talking to him about the website and the software that he uses he suggested that he has a real issue with issuing invoices for his clients and also the recording and storage of their details. At the moment he is doing this all by hand and wonders if there is a better way to do this, possibly electronically.

I was just wondering if other plumbers out there had the same issues? Do you feel you would benefit from such a system and do you believe that it would add value to your business?

I've posted this in off topic as I do not wish to clutter up the proper forums.

Many thanks in advance.

Alot of peeps use service management software like commusoft. Joblogic, Gas checker and invoice 2 go. others on here will tell you of other packages.

Personally I still use paper.

I use gas installers workmate, gas checker and invoice2go, all on my ipad. Don't have any complaints with any.

Invoice2go syncs with existing contacts, tells you when payment is overdue and allows you to log all your receipts, amongst other nice touches.

We use act for our contact management and excel for invoicing. I have written a few macros which help to feed our cash book etc. Don't know how you would create usp's specifically for plumbers. I would look at developing something generic for small businesses as any requirements you picked up with your friend would have currency elsewhere.

A good idea would be invoice2go and gas checker type software in one affordable package, commusoft offers I think this but the cost is too much.
