Hey Plumbers!

I am having a nightmare with taking water from a 5m water deposit using a mechanical water pump and pressure balloon.

I have 70m of pipework from deposit to pump. The pump runs up and balloon pressurises. Once the balloon hits 2 bar the pump switches out and..... I loose most of the pressure built up!

I am assuming that the pump and balloon are working correctly as it was taken from a property that was using the same pump and balloon successfully.

I can only think that there is a leak in a joint somewhere are there is no holes in the pipe.

I have rebuilt the pipework from deposit to pump and from pump to building.

The question that I THINK I want to ask is does the WHOLE of the pipework pressurise OR is it just one side or the other? i.e. Deposit to Pump OR Pump to Building?

Any help greatfully received.

Thanks

Pumping from a 5m deep deposit to a house. It's a VERY simple system. 5000 litres water, more or less, in a 'holding tank' 5m vertical pipe out with non return valve and filter at the bottom. 70m run to pump with pressure balloon then feed to house.

Thanks for your prompt reply any help appreciated.

Non return valve is on and functioning properly.

Pipework IS charged as water reaches the house and is at pressure. With taps open the water runs beautifully. Once the balloon reaches pressure and cuts the pump all pressure is lost.

That is the big problem.
