Situation

I have Potterton HE24 is at one side of the house, the flow and return lead off for about 5/6 meters to the vented cylinder where the 3 port valve is located, all CH pipe work then comes off this as you would expect.

But, I wanted a radiator in a new part of the house so I came straight off flow and return before the 3 port because I would have meant ripping up most of the house.

Problem I expected

Radiator will be on when I turn HW on. It has a TRV, so no real issue there.

Question

Do you brilliant people, here at UKPF, know of any other issues I may expect to have in the future?

You may have to balance it way down on the lockshield valve otherwise your heating circuit might not work until the trv on the new rad closes down.

put a flow limiter in, like a ballofix or it may circulate back to boiler.

At worst it would work like a manual bypass. Just check the lockshield back. Not hard to balance.

Is it a system boiler or heat only boiler Orry C? Heat only then you will reduce the flow through the boiler if the pipe is taken off before the pump as the flow through the rad will bi-pass the boiler!

you lazy git LOL. :) just balance it down and keep the trv turned down and it will be ok.

funny how building regs goes out the window for most in our own homes :)
