Radiator Problem

Hi, we’ve just had a new large vertical radiator added to a previously fully working heating system. This new radiator only gets hot when all the other radiators are off. When the other radiators are on, the new radiator remains cold. All radiators have been bled. Our plumber is suggesting installing a new pump or having a power flush. Any ideas?

Sounds like it needs balancing.

As above this is most likely a balancing issue. Is this an additional radiator or a replacement?

Was it piped up correctly. They're normally labelled up for flow and return?
Is it running off of 10mm pipe?

I think it was piped correctly from what we were told. It was a replacement radiator not an additional one. Think we'll try balancing. Thanks

A fair amount of tall design rads are flow/return specific due to having a baffle in bottom run.
I've seen them work wrong way round but tend to be very sluggish.

There are some modern designer types that have a baffle/flow diverter you push into the base on the flow connection side. He/she didn't miss it by any chance? It is possible and if it was lost in the packaging somewhere it may be a genuine mistake. Might be better to ask the manufacturers if you supplied it or if they did ask them to look into it.
