Radiator problem!!

hi all , was in a customers house today , told me rads were heating up even tho valves were closed, trv's were drayton rt212's . 5 of them were doing this out of 8 rads. She told me this hapened within the last 2 months , all going one by one. What do you think is causing the problem?? could it be sludge or something preventing them from fully closing off??? system is aprox 10 years old!

Did you make sure they were turned all the way to 0 and not just to * which will still bring the rad on? I'd of thought it seems unlikely that all the rad valves have failed.

worth as a test swapping the ones that don't work to the ones that do work,
that way you will quickly identify if the problem is with the trv head or the valve body

take trv head off and push pin down and feel the radiator , if heat is still passing change trv's.
This is why i always recommend a filter sludged up trv's
