Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I need to tile my bathroom floor so Ill need to remove my radiator for the tiling. Once I've finished I'll be getting a new rad fitted

Ideally, I'd like to drill a 20mm ish hole into my tile and push the pipe through. Do I just need o shut the water supply off to the house and remove the valves from the radiator and pipe and refit again once done? I'm a bit of a plumbing newbie so just wanted to check?

I also have a combi boiler, not sure if that makes a difference? Do I need to do anything special? will my hot water continue to work (not bothered about the heating until the jobs finished)

Thanks

id get a plumber in, best to drain down heating system, alter pipework to suit new rad, solder cap the ends and refill with chemical cleaner to get your hot wata back on and give your system a clean. Then once tiled again drain down with heating system hot, fit rad, flush/ refill with a good inhibitor.

it would be better to put the pipework inside the wall if possible?

good luck.

hi dazzler.:iagree: that would give you a bit more time to sort it.
once you drain the system you will have no heating or hot water.

you could always plan the job for one day. drain heating and remove rad,
get radiator and new pipes in place and crack on with the tiling.
how confident are you feeling??

anyway if the floor is fully tiled first, how would you get to the pipes??
access from underneath? from the next room?

Dazzler, please save yourself a LOAD of grief and get a plumber, theres a lot more to that job than you think.

Thanks for your advice chaps. I'll take it...

I spoke to a plumber tonight and he's planning on doing draining down and the pipe work and I'll fit the tiles the same day as advised.

Cheers
