Hi peeps, i am just wondering if it is ok to remove a radiator for a while whilst i have my room re plastered but still leave the boiler on so i have HW to taps, i have a sealed system and the the rads have a filling loop, so as long as i dont turn that on along with the central heating all should be ok shouldnt it,?

If i'm correct then just close the wheelhead valve/ trv and the lockshield valve to the rad and then simply remove. Be careful to catch the water that comes out of the rad as it will be dirty. No need to touch the filling loop. When you put the rad back on, open the valves and bleed the top of the rad to let the air out, you may need to attach the fill loop to up the pressure to 1.5 bar. Also when you turn off the lockshield valve before removal count the number of turns it takes to shut off and then open it the same amount when when rad goes on, this way you will keep your balance right. Hope this helps. :)

If you have a thermostatic radiator valve ,remember to fit cap over end whilst radiator is removed

b & q, would be easy, or just go to your local plumbing merchant.

Hey!

Don't forget the cap! A mate of mine did and came back to a bank ankle deep in water.

They are usually 3/4" parallel bspt thread on the valve to rad side or 15mm.

Some brands required a special decorating cap to be put on instead of the thermostatic head whilst you decorate. But if you blank the valve off you should not need one anyway.

cheers guys another question answered for the notepad lol,,,,,cheers
