i have a betacom condensing boiler, in periods of high wind and rain i have problems with rainwater being blown into the flue via the open grill flue end outside, and dripping onto the electrics could i fit a cowl to the outside to stop direct rain ingress

Most boilers have an open end & iv not heard of rain water causing issues before.

Its best you get a gas safe engineer to take a look at the installation as fitting a cowl could affect the boilers operation, or it could be a leak on the boilers water connections, or the inner flue. Get a gas safe chap out to investigate as we can't offer any advise on gas faults!
