totally agree a service[main] includes a burner gasket turberlaters and set up with a fga, there has been a fatality with one of these after a service so stay well away if your unsure pass to heat team

and do you know why bg wont touch them, they were involved in the fatality they dident directly cause it but they failed to find the fault a flu had come apart

i went to it yesterday for an annual service for someone who knew someone who knew someone....... Anyway i had it as "service Worcester boiler" so as soon as i saw it alarm bells rang (obviously rang around and no one wanted to do it) , i read the MI luckily before i started and it stated you must replace gaskets so i didnt take it apart but i did gas rate it, checked flue in loft space and did a FGA on it (Do you have to risk your life doing the FGA test ??? had to tape up the end of the probe on my testo to get it to seal to that screw hole!!!) needless to say i reported back to the office that we no longer service these boilers.

i must say i used to service these but when it came to getting the turbulaters i found the cost prohibited me carrying on servicing them as they could supply and service cheaper than i and they kept parts on board their vans

I have a Range power max 155x does anyone know how to increase the pressure as it has dropped to just above 0 and can't see a top up valve anywhere?

was speaking to my local inspector about these only yesterday. He seems to think that there may be a chance that most of them will be off the wall before the builders guarentees run out.

Got called out for a breakdown yesterday morning and great an old range powermax of all the boilers it could have been just wha I want on a saturday morning! Luckily it was just the heating pump blowing the fuse and everything tested out ok

whats a turbulater

Think im being sent on the course for these horrible things.....would rather run than work on one though.

the turbulators are a mare but easy to remove from the top if you modify a cleaning brush they normally corrode away

The ones I took out were beginning to corrode. How severe does the corrosion have to be before you'd replace them?

i have removed some where the tops totally corroded away if there starting to rot renew them officially i think its every 3 years it needs the big service and need it they normally do

I had fun taking one of these beasts apart after I had removed it!

I once read that the sump has to be removed from the bottom for cleaning, with a new washer being fitted! The only way to remove the bottom sump was with a lump hammer it was so seized on there!

The turbo laters were all rotten inside it also!

Theres no way I would ever service one of these big beasts! To do it properly would be a big headache & cost a fortune in my opinion.
