Hello

I own a Ravenheat CSI 85T boiler that I’ve had for 7 years without issue. Just before Christmas it decided to stop supplying hot water through the taps but the central heating is fine.

Turning on the hot water tap does not cause the boiler to fire up and my initial check has found that the 3 way diverter valve is not shuttling. I have removed the three way micro switch and checked that the diaphragm shaft is not seized by pulling the diaphragm spindle in and out. I am also able to obtain hot water by manually pressing the micro switch whilst pulling the diaphragm spindle with a pair of pliers whilst running the hot water tap. I would also mention that spindle is quite tough to pull out (not sure if this is expected) and retracts quickly when I let go.

My guess is that the diverter valve is at fault somehow so I’m wondering how the valve shuttles so I can further investigate? Also, do you think what I have described could be a perforated diaphragm?

Any information on how these valves function or any idea’s on the fault itself is much appreciated.

FYI – I have followed the instruction manual fault finding section and confirmed a minimum of 3 litres flow of water from the hot water tap and that the pressure is fine.

Thanks a lot

Geoff
