I misunderstood the purpose of this forum, as I thought it was a general help and information forum rather than a Certified plumbers forum, which is what the answers received imply?

I have absolutely no intention of doing any boiler works (I don't trust myself to put the wheel back on the car !!). Also if I was that stupid I would have gone to YouTube for guidance, though understand your reticence I think, though obviously no help better off information-wise really.
I also specifically request recommendations for a plumber who knows about gas boilers in the area, so I can engage him to do the work.
The reason for this post is that I have had a quote and recommendation which was so vague that it lead me to look into what he was proposing and on seeking clarification he said he was not sure it would fix the issue and that it was the best he could do because he was an Electrical boiler plumber.
And he advised contacting a gas specialist or the manufacturer, which I am about to do, but I wanted to get an idea of the underlying problem and options regarding private contractors before doing so.

One more pieice of information should someone in here be able to advise on the possible issue(s).... The hot water seems to be working (although slower to kick in, without the heating on, but if I do put it on like I wanted to the other night, the pressure climbs quickly so i just turned that off back to hot water only

I have looked at your other thread. You were given the correct advice.

The problem lies within your boiler.

The case forms part of the combustion seal.

As such it is illegal for you to remove it unless you are a gsr. This is covered under the statutory document Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.

Our professionalism has potentially saved your life.

Please don't throw your toys out the pram because you haven't received the advice you think you need.
