I am looking to steal a few inches from my bedroom, to slightly enlarge the en-suite and make the refurb job easier for a whole host of reasons. In undertaking this task i can go either with a 3” thick stud wall, or 4”.
I am thinking of fitting a recessed shower valve fixture and hence my question is regarding the best thickness of wall to go for i.e. will i be severely limiting my options if i choose the 75mm cavity? Not sure if there is a standard for such things? The slight downside of 4” is the extra space and weight, but neither is a showstopper.
The current wall is metal stud, 2”, and it is barely wide enough to accommodate any pipework! TIA

Damn, i thought i had posted this into the DIY Bathroom Remodelling forum and not sure how to shift it!?

Ignore post, as i’m going to move it to where it should have gone in the first place!
