whats the craic
just wanted to know wheather or not any of ye have dropped labour prices as a result of national pay cuts [has happened in ireland not sure about uk pay cuts}
should this happen with plumbing prices or not. what do u reckon

domestic market still want a good job done and are still willing to pay for the best person for the job

hhad an enquiry the other day to exchange bath suite/ straight swop!!!
told him guide of £250 plus parts. (usually charge 200-250 per day depending on how busy etc) to save a wasted effort in viewing job initially. good job really as he said that was too much as someone has quoted him £150 all in!!!, proberbly a right crap job/ finish too. however he wanted it done earlier than the guy could do it, sometime in early april. so i told him ill do it for £140 in early july then.....kof.

point being i dont do a new year sale, or discount rates unless you offer me a contract of work, if you want my service you pay the rate, i have bills n family to pay for too. if everyone kept to their guns customers either get the job done or go without.

I think REDSAW is right, your hourly rate should reflect the quality of you work and your costumer all ways expect good finish, so don't drop the price! If you would like to make your estimate more competitive you should consider passing some of the discount you get for materials from the plumbers merchant to your clients.

I would like to see all quality plumbers sticking to there prices! Fair enough we might lose a couple of jobs but we will be the ones charging top rates to put the mess right!
The construction industry is under the water at the moment but it will soon rise and our prices should too. We should never be prepared to drop our prices to suit the economic market. The old saying buy cheap buy twice is very true!

I am not dropping my prices, I do quality work which most are willing to pay for, sorted out a relly bad bodge on friday, customer had kicked this clown off the job, I charged them £ 185 for nearly a full day, they were over the moon with the quality and said I was cheaper than the cowboy they had first, they also gave me a load of freebies from the company he worked for asked for as many business cards I had on me, so they could give them to there neighbours.
This cowboy posted flyers around the estate, clearly a bodger, how do they sleep at night.
