Just had a customer on the phone , they want to have there non condensing boiler relocated , are we allowed to do it ?

i would , especially if i was low on work.its still in there house

I have lots now boiler and cylinder every day , and this will be a job for July when they will have there kitchen changed

Who needs to know if its moved anyway? No need for building compliance certificate. There are far worse things going on than someone moving a non condensing boiler!

I am in the same situation as you Stan, but mine wants to move a old Baxi solo pf40 which looks like it will fall to bits if i touch it

I just had the customer to sent me picture of flue as I was worried that it was a balanced flue , but it is not ! Will any one who had similar customer can confirm if it's ok to be done ?
Boiler I have been asked to move is a vailant combi :)

I put this question to a gas safe inspector recently and he said that relocating an existing boiler is fine as long as the final job satisfies the MI's.

i would have no problem relocating it,at the end of the day stan who cares?,you only have to issue a normal gas cert afterwards

If it is to be inspected by building control for a completion certificate they probably won't even notice it

I moved a 4 year old Worcester combi from a vicarage that was being knocked down to another that had an oil boiler in desperate need of replacing, after fitting and re-commissioning I spoke to wb to re- register at another address in case it needed an engineers visit in the future and they had no problem, boiler and flue were in perfect working order, extreme care was taken in removing, and transferring approx6 miles and then refitting using MIs, not everybody has a couple of grand lying around to buy new boilers all the time. In an ideal world everybody would have everything and we would all live to a ripe old age, unfortunately it's not so we have to make good what we can.

From 1992 ish onwards ?

If Im correct, as my memory is crap, no chance at all in getting a new flue or seals if reqd.

Cheers mate remember the newer solos from when i started out but not those ones, like banging my head against a wall saying you need to replace it thats what happens when you start putting a conservatory up before thinking about the boiler thats flueing into it

i had a new flue kit for one but pretty certain i binned it in a clean out

Recently replaced a Solo 2 flue after a bit of hole.

Had a word with Building Control removing a Solo 2 and they were fine with it.

Can't take credit for that find. Our auditors got it on a boiler that had only been 'serviced' a month before (and not by me, I hasten to add!).

One thing Stan, remember and check that its working correctly before you move it.. don't get done with the old "it was working fine before you touched it" excuse..

Up date :
called Gas Safe , spoke to Dave and he said there is not a problem to relocate a existing boiler .
He pointed 2 things , not to put boiler under the stairs if it was more then 2 store house.
And to register boiler as relocation !

Thanks Gad Safe :)
