Evening

Changed a guys boiler yesterday. All went ok.

Today he has called and says his gas fire which is a verine dtx500 is making a loud clicking noise and not lighting.

I told him to turn main fuse board switch off then on again which stopped the noise.

When he tried to light it again it did the same thing.

The fire has a remote control.

Anyone got an ideas what is wrong? I called the company that currently does verine tech help and said the fire is too old and can't give tech advice and parts obsolete.

Obviously the customer is saying it's down to me.

I have my gas fires ticket in case you was wondering.

Thanks in advance

The pilots light is out did you relight it ?

the clicking sound is the motor moving the gas valve too far eg open all the way or closed all the way so don’t do this too often as you could break the motor or gears

there permanent pilot

I didn't know he had a fire if I'm being honest. He had an unused snooker table stored in front of it so i never see it and I never asked. So no I never re lit it no.

Btw if the pilot is out why does it open the valve?

It will open but no gas as safety devices but if he tries to continuously open / more it will click as it’s jumping gears /teeth

evening

@ShaunCorbs the fire wasn't a permanent pilot. It had a 4 aa batteries inside the fire which I changed and it worked. why turning the fuse board off last night stopped the clicking? any ideas.

any got any good sites/literature n how these type of fires work?
