Hello everyone,

I've been asked to remove the air vents on the flow and return pipes. The flow and return pipes from the combi boiler run up into the loft and then drop back down again. The customer wants to turn the loft into a room and doesn't want the air vents sticking 8 inchs up of the flow and return pipes. They are the manual type air vents. If I was to chop out the vent T what would be the result. I've explained that you need the vent at the highest point in the system but she wants them gone! Would any air entering the system simply collect in the rads. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Many thanks

No problem mate, drain down and cut the tees out.
Fill up again and the system will work fine.
Could never understand why air vents were ever installed myself.

if they want to use the room, then are you fittings radiators up there?
they would serve to bleed the air if there was a need

Why don't you just re route them to a convenient place. Use 10mm copper and keep a steady rise on pipe.

That's what I was thinking, it's a high pressure system so there shouldn't be any problems with air locks.

have had this type of install where f and r go to the loft then drop down and then all g floor rads on drops too , filled up and if i did not put them vent in the loft that system would not work !

just cut back the pipe and leave them there !
