Discuss Removing old radiator pipes, do I need to drain the system? in the UK Plumbers Forums area at Plumbers Forums

Hi All,

I have two sets of radiator pipes that need removing. Although neither set of pipes have radiators on them anymore they are both still connected to the system and contain water.

A plumber I have spoken to says to remove them he'll cut the pipes vacuum out/up any water and then cap them off. I'm worried this will cause air to get trapped in the pipes? Would air at the end of the pipes be an issue at all or is that a reasonable way to remove the pipes?

Is draining the system unnecessary in this case?

Thanks,

Adam
