Hi
I had a call Easter Sunday from an old lady, went round and here 40 odd year cylinder is leaking and needs replacing, there is no immersion just heated from the back boiler, there is also no thermostat.
I presume with it being so,old it was before most regs, I'm looking for some advice on best way to sort out a replacement for her, also the most cost effective.
her husband has not long passed and I just want to help her the best I can.
thanks Martyn.

Hi yeah it's 28mm heating circuit into cylinder, 28mm feed to bottom and 22mm hot water draw off.

Just stick a new one in, the new ones aren't designed for gravity circs. But they've always worked for me.

What about regards to the hot water temperture control?

Is it direct or indirect?
Ypu can install a "c plan" 28 mm motorised valve on the return, fed through a cylinder stat.

If they can wait a few days, RM will make you one with a wider coil for gravity. The difference in price isnt massive, just 28mm pipe instead of 22mm.
