Hi

I have to replace a broken TRV, the head/body has snapped off above where it threads onto the actual metal valve.

My question is, is the thread where the plastic body joins the valve universal? If so I guess I can just screw a new head on or will I have to drain down and replace the actual valve as well?

The broken valve is a Drayton Lifestyle RT212, which seems to be current, so if the opinion is that heads are not interchangeable I'll have to have have a ring round to find the Drayton valve.

Put a few TRV's in over the years just cannot remember if the thread are all the same!

Regards

Andrew

I hope so, a friends kids broke it off.

I was hoping to avoid draining down and replacing the complete valve.

order a drayton lifestyle rt212 head from your supplier and screw it straight on.
If you cannot buy the head seperate(I am sure you can) Buy the matching trv complete and replace the head. keep the body for the next 1!

Don't forget to invoice your friend! Sounds like a strong kid if you ask me...

I managed to get a replacement from the local plumbers merchants, and was a quick swop.

I check a few others out while I was there, not all seem compatible!

your t.r.v. heads are definety not universal, i carry 3 types, and there are a lot more.

also when you buy your head check the price first, several are cheaper to buy the whole valve!! use the head, scrap the valve

similar scenario, broken head of a drayton trv 4 can i just replace the head? and is it an amateurs job or would i have to get a plumber?

Most of the time you don't require a tool to change the head so in that sense it is an "amateur's" job!
