Reseating tool

Can anyone recommend a decent tap reseating tool, with an assortment of heads? I'm a student plumber, and don't want to waste my money on a rubbish one.

i would suggest not wasting your money until you come across a tap that needs reseating

i have not done one yet, and usually by the time they would need this done, the customer wants new taps

Would agree with Simon on this one in 7 + 6 years I've never needed one. Save your money for something more useful. imho.

I use my reseating tool about ten times a year. It's handy when you've got an old pair of taps seized onto an old basin.

I have one (somewhere) but i've never used it. Last time i used one i was an apprentice and that wasn't yesterday.

Spend your money on something better.

i use one a few times a year but you can bet that 6months to a year it will need doing again or a new set of taps needed.

I have a monument one it was cheap and it is decent enough for doing the job, not that i ever use it to be honest!

Wait until you need one.

You will find that many come with just 2 sizes of cutters, which will only work on about 50% of the taps you will come across anyway. If you do get one, you need one with the 4 different heads.

Find it handy for old stopcocks that are soldered on, got an Acfirb one. Was issued to water board as very heavy duty (massive 2.5" handle"), a treasured tool of my late father

Used mine twice. Still I have it...and as said, get one with various size heads. 2 aint enough.

I use mine when ever i change tap washers, why not re-seat the tap whilst its stripped out? mines the monument DIY model cost about £10 with 3 heads, good quality tool though i really only use the 1/2" and 3/4" heads.

Because there is really no need to. Use a domed washer if it is a bit worn.
