Measure the resistance of a new one for future reference. Also get a cheap clip on ampmeter (ebay from hong kong i got mine all ok) and get reading on a new install. Makes fault finding easy on jobs.

Fault finding on these is easy, if the fuse makes a lovely firework pattern it's fluxed!

A standard 3KW/240Vac immersion heater will pull about 12Amps & have about 19 Ohms resistance.

240vx3000w not about 12ax19ohms but 12.5a x 19.2 ohms.

In the real world (not the class room) 230 volts is the norm for uk.

So looking at 13.04 amps X 17.63 ohms

The simple Ohms Law I learned 'on the job', not on any Mickey Mouse course.
However, thanks for pointing that out, but in the real world as you say, the readings only need to be stated as a rough figure.
