I have a central heating system without a room thermostat. I would like to add a wireless room thermostat.

My boiler is a Potterton Netaheat, my programmer is a Potterton EP2001.

I'd like to know whether I can add a room thermostat to this? I have the wiring diagram for the programmer and it dont seem that hard (famous last words!!).

Can i add a wireless thermostat? If so, which one would you guys recommend?

Would it be easier to get a new programmer aswell? If so, would that be compatible with my boiler and other stuff?

hope this makes sense.

Not hard to fit a wireless room thermostat, there are lots of makes and most are quite reliable now and the price has come down alot, but if you stick to a well know make you can not go far wrong,so honeywell is as good as any
You will have a wiring centre somewere and you should wire into there
the programmer you have now, is ok good one and no need to replace

Thanks for the reply.

Had some other advice, better to get a programmable room stat. I'll get more heating options. I was thinking of getting the Honeywell CM927RF (or maybe there are better ones???).

Anyone have the specific instructions of wiring this to a potterton EP2001. Wiring diagram for potterton is here: [DLMURL]http://www.gtts.co.uk/EP2001/PottertonEP2001InstallerGuide.pdf[/DLMURL] . I'm really looking for the things that will go bang!!!

You maybe able to do that for your male customers but how you going to apply that rule to the lady customers,I have some right old bats that swear they are only 35 :D

Know what you mean though, how come they can design a nintendo wee ect with nice easy controls that do twice as much but when it comes to heating controls....well :(

Luckily i have a few years of use if i do install one!!:D

You are right, some of the things you use you wonder whether they have been designed at all! I look forward to my stat, when a friendly forum user gives me some know-how

you can never go far wrong with honeywell stuff and plenty of wiring info on their website

CM927 is a good choice.

The CM927 needs three wires: Live Neutral and Switched Live. The live and Neutral can be picked up from the L and N terminals of the EP2001. For the Switched Live, remove the wire from EP2001 terminal 4 (CH ON) and connect it to CM927 terminal B. You will also need to link terminal L to terminal A in the CM927.

If you do it this way, the CH side of the EP2001 is disconnected; all CH times and temperatures are controlled by the CM927.
