My thermostat is in a cold hall on the wall which separates from integral garage. Very cold. Had cavity wall insulation done recently and this has not improved hall as it couldn't be insulated but has really improved temps in lounge. Trouble is, I have to keep turning down thermostat in hall as lounge temp builds up. It's only on 15 now and temp is 22 in lounge (which is what I want) and rising. The colder it gets, the lower the thermostat has to be set. It's so random it makes it difficult to go out and leave it. Didn't have this prob before insulation. Have TRVs on all rads and usually keep lounge on 5. It gets full sunlight. Is it better to turn down rad to 4 (which keeps boiler running) or monitor temp in lounge and keep adjusting room thermostat ,,, or should I have room thermostat re-located?:(

Why could not the garage wall be insulated,if no cavity, insulate garage side of wall
If front room getting to hot turn radiator thermostatic valve down, lower number valve setting ,cooler room, control front room temp through thermostatic rad valve not hall wall thermostat
If wall thermostat in hall, should not have thermostatic valve on hall radiator, remove head

Thanks Puddle .... have already turned TRV up to full so the hall rad is on all the time. The outside wall of the garage was insulated but it hasn't stopped the garage itself being really cold. The thermostat is on the wall that separates garage from hall. Will turn down TRV in lounge.

no you need to move your thermostat to the room most used...usually the sitting room
