We had a new heating system fitted under 5 years ago. One radiator in a guest en-suite is rusting at the lower end on one side . It is a vertical radiator model called Water Lily from the Radiator Company. It is covered by a 5year 'no quibble' guarantee but they say the rust is due to fitters mistake, overtightening the valve.

I wonder if anyone has any advice about this please and whether likely that incorrect fitting is the cause of the problem? The brackets of the radiator are also rusting. I attach photos. The ensuite is rarely used - maybe the shower is run once a week at most, the bathroom has an extractor fan and the radiator is left on with the thermostat on a mid to low setting. There is no evidence of rusting on any other radiators in the house.

Thanks for any comments.

if they have a no quibble guarentee, you might like to point this out to them and then inform them of your intend to proceed to chase them by all means to get a replacement, and that will mean having to go back to your supplier to replace the product and get them to chase up the manufacturer. If no joy all you can do is take the supplier to small claims to recover your replacement costs.

I agree with steveb - the problem is two fold -

1. the rust around the bleed valve is to do with under or over tightened valve
to be honest I have the same prob with a rad in our dwn stairs porch bog
- over tighten and it mucks up the washer rust follows AND I did it -

2. The brackets should be much more enduring - thats poor

At the end of the day just go to screwfix bite the bullet and get another one they are so cheap
