I have a Sanicompact 43 toilet . The problem is the pump switches on on its own and also will not stop running until
the electric is switched off. Any ideas what could be the cause of this??

Thanks

You may have a faulty non-return valve, your best bet is to call out saniflo engineer ! most plumbers wont work on them disgusting things !!

There is a forum member called rpm who is a saniflo engineer - hopefully he will be along later to advise.

Hi Axle,
Clever things the compact with a PCB, 2 pressure switches, solenoid valve and the non-return valve but here goes.
Q New or older installation?
Q Does the 32mm outlet pipe run vertical?
Q Is there a continous run of water into the pan?
Q When you push the flush button does the pump go through the 16 second run cycle and stop or does it stop and you hear water running back and the pump starts again?

Thanks for the help guys!!

4 Years Old
32mm pipe Vertical
No run of water into the pan
When you push the flush button it does the run cycle then stops.

One thing i forgot to mention is that there is a basin plumbed into it aswell.

As jts said it sounds like the non-return valve is failing. Remove the 2 screws nearest the back wall that hold the pan to the floor brackets and pull the pan towards you until you can undo the 2 jubilee clips around the discharge elbow, when you remove the elbow the nrv is right there or it may come off with the elbow. Just clean the rubber flap and the face on the nrv plastic holder and that should be it unless the rubber flap is damaged or missing. You may want to use an old towel on the floor to catch any drips of water.

When refitting the nrv the rubber flap opens up and into the elbow out of the way not up towards the outlet pipe.

Forgot to say turn the water and the electric off first

Hi There,

Sorry for late reply due to ilness im just about to tackle this! However there seems to be a new fault!! The pan is filling with water and the button will not operate the flush anymore. Do you still think its the NRV??

Thanks for your help.

Hi There,

Sorry for the late reply i am just about to tackle this due to illness! There seems to be a new problem now and that is that the toilet won't flush at all. The pan is also filling with water. Do you still think its the NRV??

Water in the pan most likely down to either the NRV failing, dripping tap if basin is connected or somebody has added liquid. Failure to flush now most likely down to the electrics being switched off or the rubber diaphram in the push button failing which is a known problem with age and has been addressed with a new hard wired push button but that means stripping the unit down and fitting the new button to the PCB which is not a DIY job. You can try this though.....
With the electrics on reach underneath the push button and pull off the tiny 5mm tube DO NOT LET GO OF IT or you will never retrieve it without removing the whole pan. then blow down the tube and hopefully the air pressure switch will ativate, don`t worry about any nasties in the tube there isn`t any.
