Hello All

I'm hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having regarding the boiler ignition not firing up. I've drained down a c/h system to move a rad and when I've re-filled it the boiler has now shown indicating lights showing problems in the gas and water inlet?

It has happened to me before but has always 'sorted itself out" after the air has made it's way out of the system. I've bled all the rads a few times. This particular one has been the same now for about 3 days. When I dropped it originally the pressure guage didn't budge so I'm unsure of the exact pressure in at the moment. The owner said she had the same problem before when another plumber dropped the system. I don't want to over fill it but I have pumped in quite a bit now and don't want to over do it..!

Am I making a basic mistake here.? Surely I couldn't have busted the boiler just by draining down the system? Its a saunier duval thema 23E combi... no manual available! Any suggestions please?

Many thanks in advance

Saw this happening on a gas boiler after the pressure was dropped to enable a rad valve to be changed. Gas engineer had to renew a diaphragm washer that had split due to ageing after system had been pressurised again. The washer was supposed to be renewed at services & hadn't.
Boiler was a standard Vokera system.

sounds like there is air in the boiler and the automatic air vent on the pump has siezed shut . its the big brass valve with what looks like a tyre valve cap on it .best bet is to remove plastic cap and push a Blunt needle down the hole in the top, have a cloth handy to catch any spillage you should hear the air come out followed by a rush af water. when this is done put the plastic cap back on but do not TIGHTEN LEAVE IT LOOSE so that it will automatically let any further AIR out. GOOD LOOK.
