Scalding Water From Immersion

Hi,

My hot water from the immersion heater is scalding hot, the water that is heated from the oil fired boiler is fine.

The thermostat for the immersion has been replaced.

I have tried running the hot water until cold them turning the thermostat to its lowest setting and turning it up until it clicks on but the water is still scalding at a low setting.

Could a faulty element cause this ? or is there something simple I am not doing ?

We use the immersion for most hot water needs and my electric bill is a bit nuts every month. Would it pay me to have a plumber split the single channel central heating system to a two channel so I can use the oil fired boiler for hot water without heating the house.

There are plenty @hite immersion heater stats out there pal, have you any idea who's it is or perhaps post a pic .

If the Immersion Stat is faulty (it sure is), you will have scalding water

It says Backer BT7 on it.

Also if it makes any difference the thermostat doesn't go into the hot water tank directly it goes into a copper cylinder beside the tank.

2. Deffo worth getting a quote for upgrading your boiler and system to heat your water.

his post says even when imersion is turned to lowest setting, water still gets very hot

Can you place a photo ? what do you mean, it go's into a copper cylinder beside the hot tank !!

No way ! someone has left the stat outside its home how daft

it sounds like one of those irish cylinders with an external immersion ddo dah they have a name and have been mentioned on here before

Its called a Willis heater. The stat should be set to 55º

Backer stats are as cheap as chips , just try another one

If I remember rightly you're in Portadown. Go and see Joe in Bassetts on the Mahon road trading estate, or Simon in Beggs on the Armagh road.

Either of them should sort you out with a new stat.
