anyone subby to scottish gas/british gas doing installs ? was on their induction on friday sounds like they are going to be a pain lol, will need to fork out a bit on some equipment like RCD and Socket & See, anyone recommend Socket & See ?

Its a standard piece of kit they use, quite good, I use mine for safe isolation.

If you buy that then get one of these too.

not what i was told at the induction, they come out and inspect you so will dig you up and put points against you since its a scottish government contract they are really strict on health and safety etc.

Guy was dug up for not having a RCD for his radio

Is this a contract with your new firm Gerry?

aye they do alot of installs for SG so will be going on that contract at some point, hopefully after my first wage as i need to buy some equipment dont think they'd allow my old wooden steps that are older than me haha

I was given everything when I was there, not an rcd though but there only a tenner from b and q

When I was subbing to BG, servicing, I got provided with everything. A mate of mine was on installs for them aswell and also got given everything, he said they can be a pain to work for and the money werent working out great for him for the amount of work he was doing.

They used to provide all the electrical safety equipment, but the are under a MAJOR cost cutting drive at moment, so maybe things have changed. Would find out for definite before comitting to buy anything.
As CES, very good bit of kit along with the socket adapter, idiot proof and safe to use.

SG/BG engineers/contractors are not permited to use any customers sockets without testing first with socket & see and using an RCD.
