Sealing Flues

As the title suggests really, just wanting some best practice regarding the sealing of horizontal flues.

sand and cement external, plaster internal?

As above sand and cement outside and plaster/easy fill inside.

PTS, Plumb Center etc all sell small bags of readymix sand and cement for around £4 +vat
