Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone on here can help me. I'm looking for an old outdoor tap and standpipe (even a tap without the pipe would be ok), to use as a prop for a short film. I assumed that I could do this cheaply with stuff from B&Q but it turns out outdoor taps are designed differently these days, so B&Q is out.

If anyone in the London area has an old outdoor tap lying in their scrap heap, I would joyfully take it off your hands. We are trying to recreate a scene where people line up at a freestanding outdoor tap to fill buckets of water, similar to the picture on this page:

Any help hugely appreciated!

I have an old 3/4" brass tap but I would want it back afterwards.

You should be able to find someone with a standpipe from somewhere. Does it have to be a 1/2 or 3/4" bore pipe as there are plenty of 2" standpipes knocking about?

go to HSS or speedy hire, and get a hydrant stand pipe, the type builders use, it will do the job

Thanks kirkgas and WHPES. Somebody put me onto a prop hire company called Stockyard who had exactly what I wanted and weren't too expensive so I'm going to hire it now.
