Hi guys, ive got a couple of issues with this waste pipe:
Firstly, the elbow that exits the wall has got a crack on the top near the joint. you can see it to the right of the arrow in the pic. ( it doesn't go all the way round the pipe)
Around a year ago the down stairs flat owner told me the crack was leaking intermittently. On inspection it was just weeping....not gushing water.
I rubbed down the surface of the pipe ans sealed with this stuff which seemed to fix the issue
Recently the downstairs flat has complained the leak has come back and has been more regular. I guess the crack probably opened up again due to expansion/contraction. for a crack so high up on the pipe to leak suggests the pipe was blocked/slow draining so i got a plumber out who unblocked it from the rodding point. In doing he advised the flow line pipe was pretty heavily scaled up on the inside and needs de-scaling to prevent future blockages
Roughly How much would I be looking at to pay a plumber or drain specialist to get the flowline (approx 2 .5 metres) de-scaled?
If i got it de-scaled is there anything i can use to seal up the hairline crack more permanently to prevent any further weeping?
Alternatively, approximately how much would it cost for a professional plumber to get the entire section of waste pipe on the flowline and the cracked elbow replaced with new? (im aware that the elbow would need to be dug out of the wall making it a fairly involved job... Just wonder if its better to just replace if possible than try to repair)
Based in London so looking for approximate London prices.
Thanks all
