setting up gas safe for first time!

Hi,

Ive recntly passed my CCN1 & CEN1 and im looking to sign up to gas safe with my boss (who isnt gas qualified) but i have heard that upon registration i will have a inspector come out to see me, so is this even before i start any gas work and what sort of questions will he ask?

Any advice would be great

How can your boss sign up if he isnt gas qualified ?

Sorry I mean his company is but i will be the engineer who signs off the work. were going 50/50

once you register you are given your card and welcome pack which has a job sheet you must fill in. along with this welcome pack you'll get a letter with the appointment date for your 1st inspection. the welcome pack will tell you that you are registered and allowed to do gas works within your scope but are on a probationary period the inspector will want to see three of your jobs befrore probationary status is removed

ok thats great thanks! but i thought u get an inspection like someones comes to your house just to see you are who u say u are etc and have the nessecery knowledge!

they do come out to the job with you - and they do ask you a few questions its not as easy as the other lads make it sound he does test your knowledge a bit and will look at your work quite closely when you first sign up - they do get easier the longer your registered from what i hear.

so your boss has a company that is/was gase safe registered using rgis he employs and therefore they stand to take all the flack when it goes wrong and he can walk away cos this ticket isnt his, great system, take the pay but not the pain. Might have misread the situation, but it isnt one Id be involved with!

from what i gather his boss is adding him as a partner - so our friend here gets his bosses contacts - his boss gets a company thats now gas safe - everyones a winner if your boss ever trys to get gas safe then just be careful as chances are he'll drop you like a hot potato once hes got his gas safe.

Yes moony that is correct but i know what you about being careful.

Thats right Oldplumber what moony said plus my boss will be using his van at not cost to me and also his office and wife will be arranging jobs etc in turn for me signing off work etc.

i presume you will be doing all the gas work yourself as it is illegal to sign work off you have not done, lets just say your so called boss uses a wrong fitting under the floor and blows up a house killing a few people are you going to prison for him, I think you will be . dont be an idiot
