Hi, I live in a building with four flats, one flat per floor. I want to collect the rainwater that hits the roof and store it in four water tanks, so that each owner will have a separate tank to do with the water what they like, and if they use all of the water in it it will not affect their neighbours allocation (hence the four tanks rather than one common tank). However I want to be sure that when the water is collected, that it is distributed exactly evenly, each 25%. The water is supplied by one PVC pipe coming down from the roof and I don't want to just use T or Y pieces to divide the flow as I am sure there will not be an even distribution like this, especially when there is a light flow of water, the water will all flow along the easiest route and just fill the same tank rather than all four equally. Does anyone have any idea how I can be sure to distribute an equal amount of water to each tank, or at least as reliable as possible. Tx.

I would suggest that perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to install one "break tank" first then have four outlets all at the same level from this tank to each of the other four. The water collected should then be distributed fairly evenly to the other tanks. Also if some tanks are used more than others, then the tanks that are full will stay full, but any extra rainwater will go to the lower water level tank without compromising the amount of water available for the other flats, and without wasting any extra rainwater! Just an idea.
