kirkgas

right boys and girls we all know i dont work for a living any more so im a bit out of the loop, the boss has decided "we" are ripping out one of the bathrooms and fitting a new shower and tray, so i need some advice on what the best ones are these days, as i havent done any for years, i want an 1100x800 easy plumb tray as the waste needs to be above the floor, i want an 1100mm sliding door screen (to go between 2 walls so only 1 panel required) and i will prob go for a mira electric shower as i have literally fitted 100's and never had any bother, but am open to suggestion to anything that is now better than mira, over to you
PS hurry up and answer as i need to get the finger out and get the stuff ordered as "we" are doing the work when i'm off during Oct week (17th)
cheers

id recommend an aqualisa but the last one i put it burnt out after being used for the first time, no error on our part, just got a dodgy one that was replaced and worked fine :)

Mira for me everytime, but Triton make good showers too. Don't go less than 9.5kw and use 10mm cable with a RCD at main box and of course a pull switch. Trays are best in cast stone as they're solid and not like the cheapo nasty plastic ones. If you raise the tray above floor height, lay it on treated timber joists, with 25mm plywood cut to shape of tray screwed to them and then bed the stone tray on to that with a layer of waterproof cement.
I'll dae it fur ye if you service my boiler! LOL

If it doesn't need to be electric, try mira pixel, nice. I like bow front shower tray, its 800 but comes out to 900, bit more room and looks good. Has sliding door, not sure about easy plumb or make but I know plumbcenter do them, shower is on offer too

Just fitted a Mira Flight tray, Mc Alpine trap, Mira Flight enclosure and the new Mira Element SLT shower mixer. All parts are top notch and the customer is capped with them.

In my experience, if its an electric shower, Miras are more reliable than Triton.

Not an aqualisa fan personally as I've had bad experience with their customer service. Mira CS on the other hand is excellent.

Swear by Mira Flight trays with the riser kit. Electric shower, again Mira, I use Triton for pumped and Mira when it's electric only. As for enclosures I like the Coram Premier range, good quality and don't come as a Meccano set. Heard good things about the new Mira enclosures though.

Don't use riser kits - I always feel the legs are a bit wobbly and prefer to get my joiner to make a rock-solid over - engineered base (used to do commercial work and you wouldn't believe the abuse some B&B showers would get!)

yes you are better off with a electric shower did you by some cheap combi IIRC,so it could breakdown at any time:hand::hand: teasing you obviously kirk,as we both know all boilers will break down eventually, when i do my re training the lecturer whos ex BG and i have known for 15 years refuses to get rid of his netaheat he refuses to tell me how he gets over the obsolete combustion door seal ,he just says one of the boys gave me a box full of spares so it will see me out

I always use the riser kit but go belt and braces by fitting battens on the closed sides, same as a bath, after having a problem with a cheapo (customer supplied) tray and riser kit, the legs settled about two weeks after install. Had to jack the tray up and repair.

Oh yes, dont buy the trays with the upstands at the edges which go under the tiles. Slight movement and they can pull the tiles off the walls!
