Just thought bout it and I put the filters in on a shower valve that will always be in the wall never be able to get to do use think the filters should be in there or not
 
Catch 22 then really. Leave filters in, clog up and then poor flow. Take them out, debris gets to shower cartridge and it drips / fluctuates in temp.

Is there no way you can make any access into the rear of the valve for servicing, like back to back with airing cupboard?

Maybe inline filters on the supplies may be better as they are bigger and will take a lot more crap to clog it up. Is there any exposed pipe work further back in the run?
