Hi all!

I need a bit of advice here. I'm getting a new combi cylinder fitted and need to fit a pump on it that cycles on and off when water is present or not. Plumber informed me i need a shower pump so im going to get one for him to fit with the new cylinder that's going to feed the bath taps / basin taps and kitchen taps ( i have a power shower but there is very limited headroom for the existing cylinder as well as the new one, hence the need for pump to bring up the pressure!)

Question is, is it ok to simply install a 2 impeller shower pump and only connect the hot water to it and leave the cold feed unfed, or do i need to get a single impeller?

Would ask him, but he's away for a few days and i need to get the pump in ready for installation.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Persume you are running cold from mains and hot from tank above combi cylinder, you could use single or double pump, not using cold side as said but this is bad practice, the water cold mains pressure supply could stop pump from coming on,as stopping flow through of hot, also the combined cylinder does not have a big storgae tank therefore pump could run it dry if not filling fast enough, also if you put correct non return valves on ,hot will probably not flow through very well,if you do not ,cold mains could back fill into hot through shower valve, damage pump and also back into tank and out of over tank overflow at best

Can you not have an electric shower ?

imho

Hi Puddle

You are indeed correct with the cold mains feed. Ive got my hands on a single impeller Salamander pump as it happens.

I do already have a new power shower, the pump is for the hot water to everything else as the pressure is terrible to the kitchen and the bathroom taps. This is what im getting it installed for.
