I want to increase the pressure on the shower head coming from a mixer tap in the bath. The problem is that the hot water supply tank is just a foot above the shower head whilst the cold water comes straight from the mains at 1.0 to1.5 bar pressure. Can I put a single impeller pump in the outlet supply pipe from the hot water tank, which is situated in a cupboard in the room next door to the bathroom? I get the impression from the adverts for these pumps that i should not use just one single impeller pump on the hot side only but I don't understand why if the pressure outputs are roughly the same?

No harm, Salamander do a pump specifically for this purpose, although youll have to fit either an Essex. Surrey or Wessex flange to supply the pump. Grundfoss also make a 'whole house pump' but its a big bugger!!
