Hi all, new on here.

I have a pumped shower which I am having trouble controlling the temperature. The hot water comes from a cistern in the bathroom airing cupboard and the cold from a dedicated shower tank in the loft. The tank seems reasonably well insulated but in cold weather the cold water is very cold and lowers the shower output temp. The shower has a hidden dual control valve (Bristan) and the cold water supply to the pump has a valve fitted in line that can slow the cold water supply. When the weather warms the water is too hot, and too cold in the cold weather. The Bristan valve works but doesn't seem to be able to control the extremes, we have to constantly regulate the cold supply with the inline tap. A pain in fluctuating weather, ok in the summer. The rear of the Bristan valve is very accessible and I was wondering if a thermostic valve would help, and if so, if there are any that might simply replace the original valve. I appreciate that the whole unit including handles and chrome back plate would need changing so not a huge issue. Just wondering if there is a a way of stabilising the temp.

Help!

If you there are any Filters / Flow regulators you'll need to clean them. Check both water supplies for any blockages.
Check the shower head for any noticeable build up of lime scale... if there is a lime scale build up remove and clean it the head.

Hiya. This has been going on for years, just been putting up with it. It was all installed about 10 years ago just before we bought the house. Recently had a new boiler and the valve that allows seperate control of hot water and heating plus hot water cylinder stat which we never had before. The hot water is now a more stable temp and the run from the hot tank to the shower valve is about 1 metre max. Just holding the white plastic cold supply pipe in cold weather shows the temp difference.
