Hello one and all, I am in need of help I have been contacted by a start up company that run "Tough Mudder" style events.
They want to a bank of showers for the competitors to wash off all the mud after crossing the finish line. The remit I have been given is the water has to be taken from the river, used for showering and then drain back in to the river. The water does not need to be heated. The water will have to be pumped 3 meters vertically to have the required shower height. Everything has to be taken down and moved to other sites. Have any of you done something similar?
Any helpful suggestions great fully received. Oh and the budget is £500!!!

If no hot water, then there is no need for anything more sophisticated than a shower head and a lever valve for on/off control.

The cost will be in a decent submersible pump and filters.

Crowborough kent?

Get a bunch of hand pumps feeding a header tank up the hill, 28mm speedfit down the hill to a lever valve for the bank of showers.
if they want a shower they will have to earn it!

if it has to be taken down, do it with 22mm copper with tees going to fixed shower heads in a bank, speed fit 90 down to a lever ball valves, turns on a few showers to save complicated dismantling :)

I reckon £500 is easily doable, provided you get to go to the event, and have a massive banner at said event, advertising your services.

Way to many problems to sort out.

Cleanliness of water.
Abstraction of river water for Commercial use.
Discharge of foul / contaminated water back into the river.
Keeping the area under the shower from waterlogging.
The list goes on.

An event near me did similar , they used the large IBC fluid containers cut down to make a tray about 6" deep , made a slatted floor out of timber / decking , the waste was plumbed in from the outlet in the tank which had a ball valve . 4 stakes on the corners and a tarp to provide "modesty" even after the womans mud wrestling . the water was pumped via a small petrol pump and the shower head was a very crude but efficient system of 40mm waste just dumping water .

Cost of IBC tank are about £30 to £40 , and prob £50 on waste and fittings , hore a petrol pump for about £50 for a weekend .

I understand that there is the issues regarding regs etc , but if you start adding to much red tape it will kill all these events . Granted you dont want soap etc in the water coarse but the mud and water came from the land to start with .

Kind regards Sam

dusty 23 thank you very much, I think we can stage the showers over a small section of the river then the waste will just re enter the river. There will have to be signs up ordering no shampoo!!!!!! I have a couple of banners so all good, many thanks every one.

There is a very large event in my parents town, The Grizzly Run, they come from far and wide and its a community day, and at the finish line are 2 fire tenders from the local station to "hose down" any runner in need!!
