Hey guys! I was wondering if I might be able to ask a question about the thermostat - Siemens RDH10RF? When I set it to say 21c it's not going off and calling for heating until it reaches 22..the heating climbs to 21.5 and seems to cut at 22, when the house is boiling 🥵. I've to spoken to boiler company who looks after for landlord and it was explained to me that the thermostat will keep asking for heat after the temp has reached 21...I sort of said well what's the point of having a thermostat?! Spoke to landlord and they are contacting said company for clarification. I just wondered if anybody has had experience of this thermostat and knows if that sounds right? (True story) I've actually got 2 small marsupials that originate from Australia as pets and they need to kept at 21c or higher and it's really bugging me that I can't tell what actual temperature the house is 😆. Any replies would be much appreciated xx

It is isn't it? I keep being told that it climbing a degree higher than set temp is normal?!? I was told to buy a separate thermometer! 😐
Tell us a bit more about the location of the thermostat, type of boiler, the location of the radiators and the temperature of the radiators when they are one. Picture of the marsupials*, please, and where are they located?

To elaborate I found the switching sensitivity to be particularly poor on this unit, even when trying to compensate for it's lack of accuracy it could overshoot by as much as a couple of degrees no matter where it's location. Drove me bloody nuts tbh.

That isn't a bad idea just to tell you what the actual room temp is and to give you another reference, you're going to get it overshooting because of thermal interia but anymore than one degree isn't acceptible. Your landlord isn't going to change it so set your thermostat to 20 degrees and with your new thermostat see where that leaves your actual room temp.

😊 The thermostat is located at bottom of hall stairs, directly across from draughty front door and there is also a radiator in this space that can't be turned off (as one with no thermostat).
The boiler is Worcester greenstar 30i ERP condensing combi boiler.
Rad temp in living room and kitchen - 5
Rad in 1st bedroom - 5, 2nd bedroom - off and bathroom - 3.5.
The marsupials are sugar gliders 😊 They're really great little guys. Their cage is in the living room on the opposite side of the room from the living door and the thermostat sits directly outside this door. I got a few pictures last night.

I think you need to draft seal the front door, but make sure the house is properly ventilated by some other means if you do. A different thermostat might help, I'd install a seven-day programmer type with TPI control (I'd normally go for Honeywell but others will have their own recomendations.) Adjust this so that the living room temperature is as close as you can get it to 21°C without overshooting. Then get a thermostatically controlled electric convection panel heater and set it to 21°C. Don't put it too close to the critters. If you want to be really safe, get two heaters so if one fails your pets don't suffer. The panel(s) are intended to come on to eliminate or, more realistically, reduce any undershoot that occurs with the main heating.
If the hall stat is a wireless type you could forget about the panel heaters, move it inside the living room and remove the head from the TRV in the living room. All easily reversible if you move out.
If both the above options are viable, I'd try the thermostat in the living room first.
Temperature-stabilising the entire room may be overkill if all your pets really need is a warm cage/burrow, in which case you probably need to find a specialist pet shop than can tell you what's available.
Don't do anything based on just my post, this is a somewhat unusual problem. Wait a day or two before deciding to see whether others agree or have better ideas.

I agree with the above, as your living room temp is rather critical I'd move the Siemens stat there and remove the TRV head or turn it to max and experiment with achieving the desired temp using your independent thermometer. Once you've done that tune the TRV's in each room accordingly, it's not boiler interlock and your index hall radiator may not run at the ideal temp for long but then it probably never did as the hall is draughty and the stat was also near to a rad so was positioned in just about the worst possible site.
