Hi I wonder if anyone can help me? I have damaged the chrome on the small sink in our downstairs loo by using inappropriate cleaning stuff. What is the easiest way to replace just the shiny part of the waste that holds the plug? I've tried to measure it and it looks like it is a 35mm hole and the diameter altogether is 60mm. I don't want to have to take the sink off!
I'd really appreciate any suggestions
Thanks
Mary

buy a combined sink waste and over flow,if its a plug and chain type it should be universal, you could just change the shiny bit but its easy to replace the lot, just use silicone on the bottom washer and silicone on to the underside of the shiny bit(bin the washer given for that) use baby wipes to remove the residual silicone

gas man you wont be able to do that ,it will more than likely be a slotted 1 1/4 waste, on a basin

Thanks Mark. That sounds ideal

hang on just read the post again this is not a sink waste is it? its a basin, this is not strait forward sadly pedastol needs to come out,if your not diy orientated you will need a plumber,if its a wall hung basin its fairly easy just buy a chrome or brass basin waste still use silicone and baby wipes

gas man you wont be able to do that ,it will more than likely be a slotted 1 1/4 waste, on a basin
yea just realised that post said sink waste

Sorry folks, I didn't realise you called a small ceramic sink in a loo a basin. Silly me! I'm not quite understanding the above now.

does the basin have a ceramic pedastol holding it up or is it fixed to the wall?and you can see the waste pipe trap etc?
