Hi, my names Matt and I'm 31 and looking for work in the Peterborough area. I'm currently working as a Swimming Pool Technician in Cheshire where I am originally from and have been doing my job since Feb' 11. My partner and family are in the Peterborough area (Market Deeping) and we have lived apart since Dec 2010 after my previous job came to an end.

I was working for Centurion Heating and Plumbing in Peterborough as a Plumbers mate from Jan 2007 to Dec 2010. My employment came to an end as my boss/landlord emigrated to Australia. I moved back home as I couldn't find any work once my job came to an end. Throughout my 3 years I learnt pretty much everything I could in regards to being a Plumber. By the end of my time with Centurion I was more than capable of Installing a full central heating system from scratch without supervision (bar the gas work). This was actually one of my final jobs and i was very proud of how far I had come over the 3 years. I would really like to get back into this line of work again and I am planning to do an evening course to gain my NVQ 2 in September, either at Chester college where I am now or hopefully in Peterborough if I can find work before summer time.

If you are a small company looking to expand and could do with an extra pair of skilled hands or even if you are a larger company with space for a hard worker then please do not hesitate to get in contact.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Matt.

Get someone to start building you a website now for Peterborough area, maybe an ad in local rag aswell. Any jobs you get before you move there do them when you go see your bird and then hopefully by the time you move the phone will be ringing steady

Thanks for the replies.

Lame Plumber do you mean advertise myself in local papers for work I could do myself or do you mean elaborate on my post explaining more of what I'm capable of?

I can't really do the latter if that's what you meant as I currently have a full time job and would have no spare time to carry out work for people. This is why I'm hoping for a long term Plumbers mate job to reignite my career in Plumbing and move back down to the Peterborough area.

Edit - Thinking about it isn't a bad idea to get a website up and running and advertise myself for little jobs on the weekends (although the Girlfriend won't be happy :smug:). I wouldn't want to take work off local Plumbers though while I'm getting fully qualified.

do make the move back , and then start looking for work ! If you never make the first step it will never work .
if you really believe in your self you should do what you think is best for you

Don't advertise yourself as little jobs mate, if they ask for something you think you may be unable to handle, come on here and offer it to someone local in return for you watching them and learning from them. College will teach you nothing you can't learn yourself from reading a book, only way you'll gt real experience is out on the tools

I can't just up and leave with no means to support myself financially while looking for work, I would be back at the same stage as when my job ended 2 and a half years ago.

I have a full 3 years experience from fitting bathrooms to boilers. The only reason I'm looking for a Plumbers mate job is i only have a limited amount of tools and my vehicle isn't capable of carrying a job load of materials (even a 2 metre length of copper would find it hard to get in my car :bucktooth:).

I never really put a massive amount of thinking into it but maybe Plumbers won't want this type of help as i could potentially be a competitor for work once i have my NVQ?

The advantage you have is right now you're working full time. Save as much as you can , get tool kit together and a cheap van don't need to fit copper inside if it goes on top. Good luck but with right attitude and alot of effort you can do it

Thanks, I appreciate that and it has actually opened up a lot more options that I never really thought about.
