whats the deal with the coils of plastic coated soft copper, do you solder fittings on ? use inserts for compression ? or is it ok to use compression without inserts.

I'm talking about 22mm btw

Never used soft 22mm copper. Used lots of 10/12mm, I solder the joints or if for oil use inserts and compression.

Used it on water services, just solder or compression as normal.

Just normal fittings. Soldered or compression, though I've never used Speedfit on it. I'm going back to using mainly copper and soldered fittings anyway.

Its fine with compression, use copper olives instead of brass, but I prefer soldered.

Soldered fittings are fine, but if using compression under ground they should be manipulative (type B). (rather than olives the end is "manipulated" using a flaring tool, which vary with make.

With soft copper the joint is the same its just easier to install as it is moveable

good to hear, i've got some for my boiler install in my house, going to use it under the floor, and normal copper above. Is it ok to use for gas ??
