Morning All

During this lull I am looking at doing some solar/renewable training, as I have had quite a few enquiries about PV, solar hot water and air source pumps.
I have the domestic installers part p, not sure if I need full scope for the PV though. Also have the Unvented for the solar water.

A few questions I need answering, if possible.

1) Once you do the training on either pumps or solar, is it then renewable every five years like ACS.

2) Do you have to belong to a seperate body for competence( ie niciec, corgi etc).

3) Have found a few courses in London, and they seem to be reasonably priced. £395 for the PV, £375 for the Hot water solar, and £395 for combined ashp and gshp.Does this sound about right?

Thanks in advance

Graham

Hi Grahamgas

1. at this time as far as I am aware the qualifications will stand, but like everything its bound to change.
I also assume you are intending to take the MCS route

2. to become MCS accredited you will have to join another body your choices are found here [DLMURL="http://www.microgenerationcertification.org/Certification+Bodies"]The Microgeneration Certification Scheme MCS[/DLMURL]

3. as for the choice of courses check this thread as Aggis gives a good bit of advice,
www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/renewable-energy/11294-what-training-qualifications-air-source.html

Basically MCS is the equivalent of a big company having ISO9001 and worcester bosch are running course to help attain MCS, I wish I knew this hen I started to try and get mine

you only need unvented to officially be allowed to do solar.

mcs is just a scheme, your customers cannot benefit from the money off offers from government if your not part of the scheme....

correct me if im wrong of course

but i could go and instal solar, probably do it cheaper than the people who are part of the mcs with the money off they offer too.... as to go with the mcs you have to add a lot more overheads.
