We currently have a glowworm 56 back boiler that we have to get changed.

So far we have been told to replace with a baxi combi boiler, but British Gas advised us to have a Baxi solo.

We have a 3 bedroom terraced house, with an exterior wall for the boiler to go on in the kitchen and 6 people who all like their baths,so I would like to know

1) which boiler is the best option or is there a better one?

2) how much is an average cost for having it all put as some of the quotes we have had seemed a bit ridiculous??

Thanks guys

These six people,do they mind using the same bath water or what ratio is the water change :)
When getting works done of this size you should always get three quotes,if they all seem expensive, its because it is expensive to replace a boiler, altering all pipework as required, moving from back boiler to wall mounted boiler, what price was you given
If everyone likes baths would say you are better off with normal boiler, like solo with cylinder, maybe new cylinder with quicker recovery time, remember a combi boiler will not give you hot water and heating at the same time so if you are running baths all the time, your going to be a bit cold :(

Haha no they all like separate water!! Teenagers.

First guy came in and said we needed a combi, didnt offer any other, and quoted us 3800 to go up in loft

Second guy same boiler (combi),he was going to run this off the cold mains 2000 to go up in loft

British Gas said Dont have combi have solo,as we werent aware that you didnt get heating when you ran the hot water. And quoted us 2900 to have it in the Kitchen and 3300 for in the loft.He said our pump system was a good one and that he wouldnt recommend changing it or the cylinder.

So as you can probabltell, i am a bit confused as to the most reasonably priced!!

We are definitely interested in the Solo or equivalent, but would like to know the best reccomended?

Also a reasonable price I am looking for,I am assuming its around the 3000 mark?

a good worcester bosch and parts will be max of around 1200 with another 800-1000 for fitting so around 2200-2400 is a fair price that should include trvs and controls for boiler

Worcester are the manufacturer to go for at the moment with gas.... quiet and efficient.

baxis a good combi manufacturer and they make good system boilers, ask about having your system pressurized then have a baxi duotec system but whatever you do do not get a solo they are terrible boilers
