Hello all i have or had a problem with boiler it is a saunier duval sd623 combi boiler. This boiler was in the house when we brought it, there are a coulpe of probs 1. the pump seems noise but has been like this since 3 years now we still get water and rads work fine upstairs so it does pump water around the system, one problem acurre last year and at first it was intermittment when putting hw on or ch on it would fire up and them go out couple of mins later or they be a delay in firing up. One day it decide not to fire up at all,so i got 3 central heating engineers in (suppose to be) and 1 dismantle it and put it back together and said he didnt know what was wrong with it only that the pump noise could be due to a value on a rad upstairs is fitted wrong way and this could make the pump noise, 2 said it be the pump as it making that noise and 3 one said it could be the air flow senor and he said he would order one for me and ring back in 1 week time. Well after about 2 weeks i decide to purchase the part myself and fitted the new part and it still does the same,so on the old sensor i push the contacts together so the value was on all the time and the boiler fires up all the time when needed like normal. So i have left this now for 8 months or so and still working fine, i just wanted to know what it is and i can fix it myself as it be cheaper especally after paying out £300 already out with anyone even fixing it. I have spoken to the no. 2 guy as it was a friend of a friend and he still does not have a ideal of what come be wrong. At the time after reading much as i can i think it could be the diverter value but without a manual i just was unsure where this was and if there is a common problem with them.Any help or info links for me to read up on would be helpful. At the moment my uncles and sons boilers i think both are same make and they cannot get hw they only get it when the ch is on.I think the boilers are potterton i will try and fin more info on this later today. I am sorry for long post but just to explain what been done already to help diagnose problem.
