Dear all, I am on the training process to be gas safe registered. There are some questions on boilers i cannot figure out. Is there anyone can help me please?

1. On this design of boiler, if the customer reported heating but no hot water would you consider a fault on one of the 2 boiler circuits(FSD circuit and main burner bircuit)?

2. During a service visit the customer says that the radiators and hot water have not been getting that hot. What would be one of your checks during the boiler service to confirm its operation and setup are not affecting this ?:

3. During a service on a room sealed boiler, the customer advises that the pilot blows out frequently and that there is often an unusual smell from the boiler. What is going to be one of your very important checks during servicing regardless of whether this was reported or not, but which relates to this ?

4. On Open Flued Boilers where the burners and air inlet are found close the the burner tray or base, what is normally found at the air inlet ?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Bluesky

We do not recommend members answering test questions like this up front, as it is no gain to yourself in the long run
Maybe go through the questions and attempt the answers or your thoughts to each question in your post and we will comment and point you in the right direction if needed, this I think you will find more beneficial
I am a visual person and find it easier to imagine I am in the siduation, with the boiler in front of me,with the problems mentioned.maybe this system will help you more than just reading the question

:)

hi puddle, pls have a look of my own answer, just not sure right or not.

1. In main burner circuit: thermostat is not working. so temperature of HW is very low.
2. check working voltage on control thermostat and pump overrun thermostat. To confirm they are working properly.
3. The overheat thermostat is broken.
4. Carbon because of incomplete combustion.

cheers

hi fuzzy, thanks for your reply, which answer is not correct, all of them? could you give me more hints?
