Just a quick question to all established/new starters - What parts and how many parts are the ideal amount to carry around with you - What do you always have at hand and how often do need new parts.. By new parts i obviously mean Ball valves etc...

Part 2 ball valve, part 3 ball valve and part 4? inlets, side and bottom. Outside tap. Stop tap. A few traps. And that's about it apart from a fair amount of fittings, washers, nozzles, and so on.

ive got a big van and its full three large stacka crates of plastic ,pan cons.enough 4 inch fittings to do a stack and a few extra like street bends,mf 45s
six f and e tanks with push fits, valves ,rad valve trvs, 28 mm fittings, traps macalpine fitting ,combined wastes, loads of bins full of copper fittings flexis couple of flush pipes box of gas stuff the list is endless i hate having to go out to get stuff
its realy gonna depend on what work your doing i alternate between jobbing installs and repair so loads of stuffanother plumber i know has one box of tools and a box of fittings but he does mostly labour only and everything is supp;ied on the job
my stock has been built up over years constantly changing
always buy extras when you need some thing and it soon builds up that way you get a stock of what your using

my stock is more commercial control stuff, but i'd suggest maybe
a bucketfull of 15 and 22mm end feed and compression. same with hep2o, mcalpine fitting always helpfull, stop taps, bib taps, gate valves.

the truth is, you can carry 10grands worth of stock-as i have done in the past, and still need to pop to the merchants for a 3/4 olive !
youll get used to it !

Wow thanks guys, I guess it goes of how busy you are... Thanks

Start with the basics thats what I did, and every job I got if I needed to go to the merchant I got two. Now at end of the month just quickly go through what I have and replenish.

And never throw stuff away have a odds and sods box :D

Thanks winston. I bet you always need something from the odds and sods box.
