Have any of you guys ever used acoustic leak detection equipment? If so what results did you have with it? I have a job at the moment in a massive house. The previous owner had the CH converted to a sealed system. There is no leak within the boiler or the unvented cylinder coil but it's losing water pressure quite fast. From a test hole in the screed the CH pipes are around 6" under the concrete screed and are wrapped in insulation which will make finding them on thermal imaging quite tricky.

They don't want to repipe but are willing to pay good money to get an acoustic leak detection carried out. I've had a few cases like this where leaks aren't obvious and it seems you can charge £500 plus VAT for using the equipment to find leaks. At that rate it wouldn't take long to pay for itself.

Anyone got any experience of using them?
